In keeping with recent years Laura has taken the decision to once again donate her pay rise to charity. She also did this last year and felt that it was right to keep this ongoing commitment.
This in contrast to the behaviour of the Leader of West Sussex County Council, her political opponent Henry Smith who in his time as Leader has presided over a 62% increase in his own personal allowances in the face of much lower independent recommendations
Laura said “With it being such a difficult time for so many people and with so many public sector workers experiencing pay freezes, it does not seem fair of me to keep this recent pay rise. I have therefore taken the decision to continue donating any pay rise to charity.” “The record shows that I have consistently voted against pay rises for MPs in the Commons and I will certainly continue to do so.
